Frequently asked questions

Exclude a recipient from tracking

The quick answer

Turn tracking off before a one-off send and use the recipient permission register for an ongoing preference. Strict consent mode prevents new trackers when any recipient lacks active permission; contact suppression also affects outreach eligibility.

Control tracking for a message

  1. Before sending

Use the Open tracking and Link tracking controls in the compose window. Turn them off before sending a message that should not be measured.

  2. Respect recipient preferences

Review recipient permission and suppression records. Strict consent mode requires active permission for every recipient before creating trackers.

  3. After sending

In Workflows → Priority inbox, Stop tracking blocks future collection and cancels pending reminders for that message.

  4. Handle historical data separately

Stopping tracking does not erase existing events. Use the permitted privacy/deletion process if previously stored data also needs to be removed.
