Frequently asked questions

Google Advanced Protection and Elite

The quick answer

Advanced Protection and organization policy can restrict third-party access. Review the authorization result and the integration's required scopes; do not weaken account protections to force an unsupported connection.

Set up a managed workplace

  1. Check organization policy

Ask your administrator whether browser extensions, Gmail add-ons, Outlook add-ins, or third-party OAuth applications need approval.

  2. Choose the integration surface

A browser extension serves web inboxes. The Gmail add-on and Outlook add-in have separate installation and deployment paths on Downloads.

  3. Review permissions

Allow only the scopes needed for the intended workflow. An organization can block authorization even when your personal account can install the extension.

  4. Pilot with a few accounts

Verify compose controls, sending, classified activity, and team visibility before deploying broadly. Each user should authorize their own identity.
