Instructions

Everything you need to read your tracking signals and protect your own inbox - in two short lessons.

Install the 2.0 browser extension

The current public install path is a signed ZIP loaded in developer mode. Chrome, Edge, and Firefox store listings will replace this page when they are approved. Until then, extract the archive and load the unpacked folder from your browser's extensions page.

1. Email tracking

How to read the circle and checkmark next to your sent mail.

  1. 01Send from the web inbox

In Gmail, Outlook on the web, and Yahoo Mail, write and send as usual. The browser extension inserts tracking automatically on send — there is nothing extra to click in those web compose windows.

  2. 02One check means tracked

One muted check beside a sent message means the email was sent with tracking and has no likely-human open yet.

  3. 03Two checks mean opened

When likely-human engagement arrives, the indicator becomes two green checks in supported sent-message lists.

  4. 04Hover for details

Hover over a checkmark to see the view count and last open time. Pro accounts also see link click stats, IP address, and geolocation.

  5. 05Open the popup

Click the Elite Email Tracker icon in your browser toolbar to open your full activity feed and settings.

Signal classification

What an event can actually tell you

An open is a network request, not proof that a named person read the message. Elite Email Tracker keeps the source classification attached so you can decide whether the event is useful.

Likely human

The request pattern looks consistent with recipient activity. Use it as a follow-up signal, not identity proof.

Privacy protected

A mail provider or privacy relay requested the image. It may hide when or whether the recipient opened the message.

Security scanner

A security service inspected an image or link, sometimes seconds after send. Do not treat it as buying intent.

Sender or unknown

The request came from you, a forwarded copy, or traffic the service cannot classify confidently. It remains visible without being overclaimed.

2. Detector & Blocker

See who is tracking you, and shut them out. Included with Pro.

  1. 01Open any email

If the message contains known tracking pixels, the detector icon appears and lists which of the 40+ known tracker services were found.

  2. 02Blocked trackers are highlighted

With blocking enabled, detected trackers are blocked before they load and highlighted in the message.

  3. 03Tune it in settings

Enable or disable detection and blocking independently, and add custom rules for senders or services you always want blocked or allowed.

Optional Outlook Office add-in

Use this when you send from Outlook on Windows or Mac — the browser extension cannot run inside the desktop app. Organizations can deploy the signed release manifest through Microsoft 365 Integrated Apps. Connect once, then choose Track this message before sending. On Outlook on the web the extension already tracks automatically; if both are installed they share one tracking record instead of inserting two pixels. Outlook never blocks a send if reconciliation is unavailable.

Important notes

  • Emails sent only to yourself may not register opens - most webmail clients skip loading images for your own messages.
  • Other webmail extensions can conflict with pixel insertion.
  • If something looks broken, disable other extensions, refresh the webmail tab, and try again.
