Approvals and the approval queue
Understand which sequence steps wait for human review, what Approve and Skip do, and why the queue may be empty.
The Approvals tab is a safety queue for campaign sequence steps configured to require a person before sending. It is not a general inbox approval system and does not hold every first campaign email by default.
How an item reaches the queue
When building a campaign, add an optional no-reply follow-up and turn on Require human approval before sending. After the wait condition is reached and the contact is still eligible, that execution step can enter the Human approval queue.
Each item shows campaign, sequence position, recipient email, and the rendered subject when available. Review the campaign context and recipient relationship before choosing an action.
Actions
- Approve send: releases that rendered step to the sending execution path. It still remains subject to provider and safety checks.
- Skip: does not send that step for the recipient. Use it when the timing, copy, relationship, or compliance context no longer fits.
Approval is per queued execution, not a permanent campaign setting change. Approving one recipient's step does not approve every other recipient automatically.
Why the queue can be empty
- No campaign follow-up was configured for approval.
- The wait period has not elapsed.
- The recipient replied, opted out, bounced, or became suppressed, stopping the step.
- The campaign is paused/completed or the step was already approved/skipped.
Professional review checklist
Confirm the rendered personalization, recent replies, recipient status, subject, time since last contact, and whether the intended call to action still makes sense. Approval should be a meaningful quality gate, not a mechanical click-through.
